Musica Sacra
Sacral music from Ukraine in the context of German Baroque compositions. With music by Mykola Dyletskyi, Dmytro Tuptalo and Johann Sebastian Bach, Dieterich Buxtehude, Heinrich Schutz, Johann Vierdanck, Matthias Weckmann and others more
Join us for a very special concert experience: Ukrainian vocal ensemble PARTES juxtaposes completely unknown Ukrainian polyphonic vocal compositions of the 17th century with pieces of German contemporary composers. In particular the composer and theoretician Mykola Dyletskyi (ca. 1630–90) opened the door to new sound worlds in Ukrainian sacral music by combining the Western choir tradition with Orthodox music. Not until the second half of the 20th century, however, would his works be played again. The vocal ensemble PARTES belongs to the group OPEN OPERA UKRAINE and is known for rediscovering lost works of the 17th century and for performing high-quality polyphonic vocal music.
